  mid-summer to mid-autumn. From central and easter China and in cultivation since 1844.

  Abeliophyllum              Distichum                      

  A small to medium sized, slow growing shrub, which is quite sought after. Fragrant white, tinged pink star shaped

  flowers during February before the leaves appear. Leaves are oval and dark green. Loves a hot, sunny situation, best

  against a south or west facing wall. A worthwhile additon to any garden. Height and spread 1.2m with time. Prune after

  flowering, removing excess older shoots to encourage vigorous young growth.

  Open, evergreen tree or large shrub with fern-like, 2-pinnate, hairy leaves, 12cm long, each with 40-80 linear, glaucous

  to silvery leaflets. Terminal racemes 10-20cm long of spherical fragrant yellow flower heads, 5mm across, are borne

  from winter to spring. Quite a large growing tree. Not particulary hardy so needs a sheltered site. From Australia.

  perennial shrub 3-4ft. tall. Leaves smell of lemon sherbet, small pink flowers in July-Aug.

   orange berries on female plants. Height 1.2m maximum. From New Zealand, Chatham Islands. Frost hardy to half hardy -

  protect from hard frost. Suitable for  conservatories.
